El sombrerete de válvula (también llamado comúnmente pastilla de extremo del vástago de válvula) es una pequeña pieza metálica cilíndrica fabricada en acero de alta dureza que se coloca directamente sobre el extremo superior del vástago de la válvula. En el motor diésel bicilíndrico Kubota de las gamas Aixam y Minauto, esta pieza actúa como zona de protección: es la superficie sobre la que el balancín golpea miles de veces por minuto para empujar la válvula y abrir la cámara de combustión.
