La media luna de válvula (también llamada chaveta o cono de válvula) es una pequeña pieza metálica semicilíndrica y cónica. Siempre se utiliza por pares (dos medias lunas por válvula) y se aloja en las ranuras del vástago de la válvula, encajándose en el platillo superior del resorte. En el motor diésel bicilíndrico Kubota que equipa los vehículos Aixam y Minauto, estas pequeñas chavetas tienen la importante misión de mantener comprimido el resorte para conservar la válvula cerrada correctamente.
